This project consisted of making a canvas, using oil paint, and an picture contrasted on a picture of myself. I decided to use a dream catcher to place on my face. The picture came out with very high contrast, which made it really difficult for me to display on the canvas. After having the picture I made a large canvas and painted the canvas with white casting paint. After I did so, I picked out colors of oil paint that matched my picture and three types of brushes. I then had a glass of paint thinner, to wash out the oil and used linseed oil to make the oil paint stay on the canvas. I first started sketching my face with yellow and orange oil paint, and then I started with my hair. I then sketched the image on my face and began mixing colors of what I needed. The face was challenging because of how exact it needed to be to match myself. The hardest part of this project for me was the high contrast in my shirt. So instead of matching the colors of my shirt exactly, I chose green and yellow, so it wouldn't match the color of my hair. I liked this project because it proposed a challenge and made me really think about what I was doing.
