The first step in creating sushi ware was determining a theme. Theme I chose was Harajuku Lovers. I chose them as the theme because of my sisters fascination of them. After deciding to Harajuku Lovers, I began to sketch ideas on the themes, and logos of them. After sketching, I first created the plate, which mirrored one of the girls in Harajuku Lovers. I then went on the wheel to create my bowl and cup. Inside of my bowl I placed the Harajuku Lovers logo into it by using slip, scoring and water. Around the cup I drew in the faces of all of the girls in Harajuku Lovers. Next I created the chopstick rest by creating another logo from the Harajuku Lovers. Lastly, I created the sauce cups by creating a heart, and then pushing the fatter parts of the hart into two circles.
The philosophy in creating sushi ware is realism. Using correct sizing, to be able to put the creations into use. Then being able to use the wheel to your advantage. Using the wheel to create the most important parts of the sushi ware. Using water to smooth in chunks of clay and to fill in wholes in the clay. Using the scoring method and slip to add on to the ware.
