The first step in creating a clay mask is thinking of ways to differentiate a mask between known masks. After searching for different things i can add to my masks, I decided to use a Japanese fan, a superhero mask, and include different flags . I then used a lot of smashed and round grocery bags to sculpt my mask. First i created the fan, using slip and scoring to connect it to the mask. Next, I created the nose, which was difficult to me. Not realizing that it is actually one of my favorite pieces, I used slip and scoring to connect that also. Lastly, I created the Superhero mask and also I used slip and scoring to connect it.
The philosophy of creating a clay mask is making an original mask. Using the main component of water by ridding of cracks and holes. Using a fedeling knife to even the edges of the pieces. Using the method of scoring and slip to connect pieces. Using a sponge to smooth in the mask. Using the technique of glazing to make the flags stand out
