The first step in the process of creating a clay clock, is deciding what object to use that would be a good to include a clock with. So I chose a retro radio. I began to sketch my design and once I finished began to create the radio. In creating the radio I had to roll 6 slabs of clay. Four of the slabs were about 8 x 5 in. Two were about 2 x 5 in. In order for me to connect the pieces, I used the scoring method, used clay, and water. I then began creating small pieces attached to the radio and used the scoring method again. Beforehand I bought a clock. So after making the pieces of the clock, I fit the clock inside of the clock and drew out the hands and numbers of the clock.
The philosophy of creating clay o' clock, is to use an unlimited amount of clay to create an artistic clock. Using clay slabs to create an outer shape for the clock. Using a scoring method to keep different pieces on the clock. Also using slip and water to stick the pieces together. Then, pressing numbers into the clay to create the realism of the clock. Lastly, putting the inner part of the clock into the clay clock.
