The first step in the process of creating Butterfields shoe, was looking for a shoe. I chose the Timberland shoe because of the style and form of the shoe. So after I chose the Timberland, I began to sketch the shoe to get an idea of what materials to get to create the shoe. The next day, the class and I went outside to get sticks, leaves, and other materials to help create our shoes. When I brought in my materials from outside I began creating the soul of my shoe with wide sticks and a hot glue gun. I also created the soul of the shoe by spliting a larger stick in half. After creating the soul of the shoe I started to create the tip of the shoe with small pine cones. Laslty I started to create the sides of the shoe from the inside of the shoe.
The philosophy of creating Butterfields art is to create a sculpture by using scraps of wood and wire them together. Her realistic stlye conveyed the realism in the display of her sculptures. The visual of the horses also related to realism by the size of the sculpture, life- size. She composed the bodies of the horses with pieces and scraps of metals and branches.
